Siskey Area Matthews NC History in Photos!

My whole point of creating this blog is to celebrate what a great area we live in around they Siskey YMCA, including great grocery stores, amazing neighborhoods and amenities!
But we have to remember that this area hasn't always been as built up as this, and honestly comes from rather rural roots!
So I put together a quick collection of historical photos to show how our neighborhoods have grown up!  All images are from Google Earth, so you can go see them too, but unfortunately they only go back to 1993, so I have to stop there! Also, the quality varies depending on what's available, and you can see just how far aerial photography has come in the last 20 years!

Matthews Food Truck Fridays Have Started

I completely missed that one of the best parts of living in or near Matthews are the Matthews Food Truck Fridays, and they've started again for the new year!
Park and walk into downtown Matthews and enjoy the entertainment, your neighbors, and of course, a wide variety of food trucks!

Chia Best Review, Plantation Market, Matthews, NC

Every community needs a good chinese restaurant.
Heck, I heard a statistic one time that an area of only like 1000 people can support a chinese take-out. (don't quote me, that's from memory!)
Oddly, for the size of our communities around the Siskey Y, there's only one, and that's Chia Best in Plantation Market, next to the Harris Teeter.
So how good is it?

A hub for our area, we're blessed to have the Siskey YMCA and all it's fantastic facilities right in our back yards!

Conveniently located off the intersection of McKee and Weddington Roads here in Matthews, it's also nestled in with 2 shopping centers offering food, haircuts, spa, and frozen treats (for after your workout, of course!)

While we have an active and engaged Town here in Matthews, there's one area of their website I want to point you towards that helps explain one of the biggest concerns residents have:
